Have you ever changed a life in a single morning? That鈥檚 the mission behind Vistra鈥檚 partnership with a nonprofit building ramps for lower-income adults who use wheelchairs or assistive devices.听听
The partnership began in 2022 when leaders of the Vistrability employee resource group heard about the nonprofit鈥檚 work. It was a natural fit for Vistrability, which is working to increase disability awareness and develop a more accessible culture 鈥� at Vistra and in the communities we serve.听听
In less than two years, more than 100 Vistra employees have donated their time to build 16 ramps.听听
While the ramps make coming and going easier, they also represent much more to many families 鈥� freedom. One recipient had not left her home for two years and was looking forward to her first trip back to the park. Caregivers are also relieved to have a safer, less strenuous alternative to assist their loved ones.听听
